TOU60803 Digital Media For Tourism

1.What was unique about this module to me and which assessment thank I think interesting? 

I really like this module as it is fun to get to do videos and websites as part of my assessment. These assessments could also benefit in the future as nowadays people are using more of the technologies instead of using the 'old way'. Many of the companies also focuses more on technologies design and production as this can be easily done.

I believe this module is one of the most unique ones that I have taken in my university life. Firstly, most of the assignments related to the module is based on creativity and learning about professional platforms such as LinkedIn. Another unique aspect of it is that it has taught me about different websites such as Prezi, Piktochart, Google Site and Powtoon. They will definitely come in handy in the future assignments as well as in the working life afterwards. Most of the work was hands-on and learning with experience instead of memorizing facts and that is another main factor that stands out from this module compared to others.

2. How does the module assessment contribute to my future career especially in event industry?

This module contributes to my future career in terms of identifying the various types of new media, being more creative with my work, recognising appropriate software according to the information conveyed and type of material used. Moreover, I am now able to operate tools and software for digital publishing which is going to be extremely helpful in the future.

This module contributes to my future career in a way that i would be able to present any forms of presentations on websites such as "Piktochart" and "Wix", instead of using the traditional PowerPoint Presentation.

Digital Media for Tourism has taught me to organize and design information and produce short videos and fascinating presentations that can help to impress my future leaders.

3. How does the overall assessment relate to the achievement of TGCs?

The TGC’s that I have achieved with the project include TGC 1: Discipline Specific Knowledge, TGC 5: Interpersonal skills and TGC 6: Intrapersonal skills. This is because now I’m able to understand professional practice in using software and programmes within the field of study and apply them. Furthermore, creating the video using PowToon for the group project has allowed me to work better in team dynamics and understand the importance of leadership. I am also able to manage myself, be self-reliant and learn from many trial and error while figuring out different software and creativity styles that suit best.

This module indeed helps me a lot and I will work harder to improve myself on this module. I'm glad that I have choose this module as my elective.
